Radical Images is a collective of photographers specialising in traditional documentary photography and photojournalism, working on long and short-term projects. We cover human rights, social justice, race, religion, environmental issues, and other topics that don't always lend themselves to simplistic categorisation.
The aim of our photographers' collective is to document issues principally in the UK, and in so doing provide a clear visual reality of the aggressors, the victims, the conflict itself, its causes, possible resolution, and its costs and impact.
We cover as photographers news, reportage and press work mainly in the Derby, Nottingham area as well as the East Midlands and UK. We have stock images in our picture library and operate as an acency, and cover many issues as documentary photographers and photojournalists.

With honest thoughtful reportage we will strive to establish an archive of social changes and bear witness to history, and do so in an ethical way.
We are aggressive in pursuing the stories that are not getting mainstream coverage, and we endeavour to get the issue(s) seen and heard.
We do not chase headlines nor adhere to pack journalism but vigorously pursue and conduct in-depth research both in front of and behind the social issues; collecting the small stories that, when strung together, illustrate a more complete picture.
We are photojournalists and documentary photographers and we apply to our work the ethical code of conduct as outlined by the Society of Professional Journalists (http://www.spj.org/ethics_code.asp):
1. To seek and report the truth
2. To minimize harm
3. To act independently
4. To be accountable
We strongly believe, as stated in the preamble of this code, that public enlightenment is "the forerunner of justice and the foundation of social equality."
We supplement the foregoing with five additional criteria that take us beyond the standard journalistic code. Thus, we also pledge in our documenting and reporting:
1. Transparency: an honest and authentic accounting of both our failures and successes, to pull back the curtain on our editing and technological
processes. We refuse to propagate the myth of the omniscient, infallible correspondent/photojournalist.
2. Honesty: we will not alter images to deliberately manipulate or take out of context the event(s) or persons we photograph in such a way that could mislead or deceive the viewer, and we endeavour to ensure our clients use the images/media unaltered and in the correct context.
3. Vulnerability: we will strive to live, breathe, and experience the lives of the people we are covering - including the daily dangers to which they're exposed from violence, disease, and hardship as opposed to distancing ourselves like some voyeur or tourist.
4. Empathy: we may not always agree with our sources and contacts, or necessarily subscribe to their ideology or religion, but we will make every effort to understand their position and document them with clarity so that our audience may have context, perspective and insight.
5. Solutions: our site will contain links to organisations and groups that are working to aid victims of these conflicts and struggles, in an attempt to assist in their resolution or provide a greater knowledge of and respect for the issues.
We supply images and features for both mainstream and independent media, and crowd sourcing, and make images available for NGOs and other organisations in addition to using the Web to give exposure to under-reported issues, with particular emphasis upon the human dimension.
Viewers will not only learn about the scope of the issues, but will also find ways to be part of the solution - through dialogue, debate, and avenues for action.
We constantly look to use various methods to expose the issues, and report them using a variety of media including images, text, audio and video or multi-media. Nor are more traditional techniques such as exhibitions and print overlooked, thereby enabling us to reach the widest audience possible.
